STRONGmovement is a premier contemporary dance company based in the Twin Cities, celebrating 10 years of excellence in storytelling through movement. We harness the universal language of dance, fusing Hip Hop, Ballet, Modern, and West African styles to create captivating narratives that reflect and unite our society. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Darrius Strong, our company is renowned for its versatility in choreography and storytelling. We have collaborated with esteemed organizations such as the Schubert Club, Ordway, and Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theater, further enriching our artistic community.

Artistic Director Darrius Strong is a Twin Cities-based choreographer, dancer, and educator known for his innovative work in the world of dance. As the founder and artistic director of STRONGmovement, he has created captivating performances showcased at renowned venues like the Walker Art Center. He also curated the 51st Choreographers Evening at the Walker Art Center, highlighting his leadership in the dance community. Strong has served as Movement Director for ‘Alice in Wonderland’ at the Children’s Theater, extending his impact on the theatrical landscape.
His expertise includes collaborating with theater organizations such as the Guthrie Theater and Ten Thousand Things Theater, as well as esteemed dance companies like TU Dance and James Sewell Ballet. As an influential educator, he has taught Hip Hop technique at Anoka Middle School for the Arts for the past seven years. Strong’s recognition includes the Jerome Hill Fellowship and the Choreographer McKnight Fellowship, affirming his position as a trailblazer in the dance community.
